As part of our project we contacted the Belgian center Turnhout, which we recently visited from May 1 to 7. This center has several Erasmus+ projects under development, so they asked us to come visit CFIE and different Adult Education Centers in the province, as well as learn about activities they carry out to promote ICT. We thought it was great to have another opportunity to keep in touch with the center's teaching staff and exchange experiences. Therefore, we arranged a jobshadowing visit from May 15 to 19.
When the Belgian teachers arrived on the 15th, a CFIE advisor went to pick them at the train station and gave them a tour of the emblematic sites of the city so that they could enjoy the night views.
On Monday at 9 we were already on the move at CFIE to show it to them and take them to IES Mariano Quintanilla. In the CFIE they were interested in the future classroom lab/flexible learning spaces, but mainly they were pleasantly impressed by how organized permanent teacher training is in Spain and the website of the Board, especially the "User Zone" and in the visit to the IES Mariano Quintanilla dealt with issues of Robotics and technology, in which it is a leading center.
From here they went to eat at La Granja where after eating they visited the palace and the gardens. Later, they went to CEA San Ildefonso, where they discussed IT and internationalization, topics in which the center has extensive experience.
The next day, Tuesday, they began by visiting the CEA Antonio Machado, which also has classes from the IES Giner de los Ríos. Classrooms from both centers were seen as they have a wide variety of training activities and promote internationalization in their activities. Here the visit focused mainly on professional qualifications, data recording operations, word processing and documents. There they were greatly surprised that Adult Education was totally free. From here we went to the IES María Moliner, where they showed great interest in the FP cycles in Computing. After this, the cultural part was given with a visit to the fortress in the afternoon.
Finally, on Wednesday, a very instructive visit was paid to CEA ANTONIO HERRERA in Cuéllar, whose teachers showed us their training in Computer Science. The two secondary schools of the locality were also visited: the IES MARQUÉS DE LOZOYA, which works with very good results the school Radio and takes part in the PIE (Active Learning and Innovative Teaching Projects) Filma and Explora. Finally, when they arrived in Segovia they had free time, at their own request, since the next day they would return to Belgium early in the morning.
Although we were all sorry that the visit could not be longer because we connected very well and the exchange of experiences was very positive and enriching for all of us, we were comforted that we will be able to continue in contact and working together. In short, this Erasmus project has been “the beginning of a beautiful friendship”.
